M140 FW 2018/19
M140's FW 2018/19 presentation reminded me of Bertolucci's 2004 movie, The Dreamers. The vast, palatial space on the second floor of Palazzo Bovara was transformed into a campsite, replete with tents, lanterns, mess tins and a host of other camping accessories. But rather than altering the space into a believable campsite--albeit seemingly staged--the transformation of the space looked more like what kids would do at home when folks go on a holiday for a prolonged period of time, like in the movie.
Although the presentation focused heavily on outerwear, its still a delight to see some innovative interpretations of classic garments, like the inside-out jackets with the lining as the focal point, and a refreshingly odd, sleeveless overcoat. The capsule collection may be young in general, and throw in sporty and casual as well, but taken out of the presentation environment and reimagined what it may look like on the streets, a lot of the pieces are sartorial statements that are impeccably crafted and worthy of attention.
