Elizabeth Kennedy Spring 2017
New York, September 2016: It is a delight to see a full evening wear collection cocooned in the opulent and historic Palm Court at The Plaza Hotel. Elizabeth Kennedy introduced her Spring 2017 collection through a presentation cum champagne soiree, with models clad in (mostly) floor length evening gowns lining the sides of the venue. For spring, Kennedy defied any ideas of toned-down aesthetics, as she went for the punch of black and white contrasts, added with solid jewel tones like emerald, ultramarine blue and ruby. Styling was crisp and clean, hair was pulled back in a tight bun, and make-up was kept immaculate with an emphasis on very red lips.
Although very current and modern in her approach to clean lines and (seemingly) uncomplicated construction, many of the pieces also reminded me of old hollywood, with a whiff of Charles James and Ralph Rucci.
And those enormous disc earrings in jet black and lapis blue...the '80s called, and they oh-so approve!
